Washington: Former US President Donald Trump has announced that the final draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in Washington. He made the announcement when he met FIFA President Gianni Infantino in the Oval Office.

This move further strengthens Trump's personal relationship with FIFA. The draw will be held at the Kennedy Center on December 5. Representatives from 48 countries will participate in the event. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by three countries for the first time (U.S., Canada, and Mexico). In addition, it will be the first World Cup to feature 48 teams.

By hosting the World Cup, Trump believes that he can be the center of attention for a global event. Trump shares a close relationship with Infantino. Infantino has visited Trump in the Oval Office several times. Trump recently attended the Club World Cup final and addressed Infantino.

The announcement also gave Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance a chance to emphasize their efforts to make Washington, D.C., safe and beautiful.

"It's going to be very safe, Gianni. You can walk down the street with your wife. You can go to dinner together," Trump told Infantino.
